The Robeson County Humane Society's Friends for Life Animal Shelter could not exist without the dedication and professionalism of the staff and many community volunteers. Below are some of the folks who have dedicated their time, energy and money into saving as many dogs and cats as we possibly can.
Kelly Ivory is the Friends for Life Animal Shelter Manager. If you have questions pertaining to the Animal Shelter, including sanitation and safety regulations, care of the animals, veterinary procedures while the animals are in our care, and general questions about the facility, please contact Kelly at sheltermanager@robesonhumanesociety.org.
Joan Bowen wears many hats. Among them, she is the Department Head for our Spay/Neuter Programs. We provide low-cost spaying and neutering to low income residents in Robeson County, North Carolina. We can also be the source for information on the spaying and neutering benefits and what to expect when you have your pet spayed or neutered. We work in partnership with all of the veterinarians in Robeson County, so you have use your low-cost spay/neuter voucher at your favorite vet's office! Joan is also responsible for scheduling Volunteers. If you would like to volunteer with the Robeson County Humane Society, we would LOVE to have you! We promise it will be the most rewarding work you've ever done and the dogs and cats will be so appreciative. Helen Musselwhite is in charge of all Cat Adoptions through our partnership with PetSmart of Fayetteville, North Carolina. The first week of each month, Helen transports cats from our facility in Lumberton, NC to PetSmart, where the animals have a better chance of being seen and adopted. For questions about adopting cats or for the schedule when cats from our Shelter will be at PetSmart, contact Helen at catlovers@robesonhumanesociety.org.
Lynn Provosty is Department Head for Animal Rescues. Each week, she visits area dog pounds who still euthanize animals and rescues as many as we can accommodate at the Friends for Life Animal Shelter, our no-kill facility. Contact Lynn if you have any questions about the animals we rescue at rescues@robesonhumanesocity.org. Due to space limitations, we do not accept owner surrenders at our Friends for Life Animal Shelter unless you have discussed your situation with Lynn first only from Robeson County residents.
Marion Thompson is the Department Head for Accounting and the Coordinator for our ‘New Leash on Life’ program. If you'd like to donate money to the Robeson County Humane Society, your donation is tax deductible. June Mills is the Web Information Coordinator (WIC) and a serious advocate and volunteer for the Humane Society. All information concerning the web-site comes through her for verification and is sent to the web administrator for posting.
Sophie the cat in residence, takes a break from her daily rounds of inspecting every corner of the office. I’ve never seen a cat sit like this. She is so funny!
